Purpose of Director of California Shows Position:

Position involved with member shows only (5-6 shows/year) and excludes national, promotional or either of the galleries. At least two co-directors is advisable. Co-directors report to Board and attend Board meetings.

Responsibilities of the Co-Directors:

Negotiate venues & dates for current and following years.

Contact venue to finalize dates, times, security, etc.

Reserve Concord Gallery for receiving if needed.

Secure a Show Chair or Co-chairs

Secure a juror

Provide info to Communications Director

Send announcement to newsletter

Write prospectus & send to newsletter editor

Maintain files

 

Can be delegated to Show Chair:

Announce show at general meeting and ask for volunteers

Request checks for juror and prize winners using the Expense Report and Check Request form.

Arrange for refreshments for receiving

Attend receiving to coach volunteers

Arrange for transportation of paintings, if needed

Hang show

Send money to Budget Director

Send report to newsletter editor

Announce winners and present checks at general meeting

Take down show and return paintings to Gallery Concord if the artist does not pick up at take-down.

Contact artist to pick up painting at the Gallery.
