Duties of Position
The Communications Director's principal responsibilities include the promotion of all events and activities involving CWA that would be of interest to news media art editors. Specifically, the director should:
- Send out press releases via mail, e-mail or fax to the art editors of local newspapers announcing CWA art shows, with photos when possible. News releases to newspapers should be sent out 3 weeks prior to any event.
- Send out press releases along with photos of CWA student winners at State Fair, Alameda County Fair & Sunvalley Teen Art Show--this should be targeted at winner's home-town paper.
(The Outreach directors currently send CWA newsletter editor news & photos of students winners and can continue doing so.) - Send out announcement of national show to art magazines--American Artist, Artist Magazine and perhaps others. The deadline for these announcements may be in September.
- Invite art editors to show openings & receptions.
